My Journey in Game Development as a Hoosier

My journey into game development has been driven first and foremost by my Christian faith, which is the foundation of my life and the reason I pursue this career. I believe that games have the power to inspire, bring people together, and tell stories that resonate deeply, and I hope to make a meaningful difference in the industry through the experiences I create.

I have actively participated in high-profile industry events, including GDC 2024 and the Global Game Jam at Indiana University Indianapolis in 2023 and 2024. While I was unable to attend GGJ 2025 due to illness, I remain committed to engaging with the industry and plan to attend GDC 2025 to further expand my networking, knowledge, and professional connections. These experiences have been instrumental in shaping my development journey, allowing me to collaborate with industry peers, connect with mentors, and gain invaluable insights from seasoned professionals.

Beyond traditional game development, I have been working on my Skyrim audio drama series, Dawn of the Garmír, which blends my passion for storytelling, voice acting, and immersive worldbuilding. Additionally, my capstone project, Golems & Storms, has given me the opportunity to design a strategic card game with unique mechanics, applying both my technical expertise and creative vision to bring it to life.

My work on SporeWood has also been a key milestone in turning my academic foundation into practical expertise. This project provided hands-on experience in game development, from concept to execution, while sharpening my abilities in teamwork, project management, and creative problem-solving.

Participating in Global Game Jams has consistently pushed me to innovate under tight deadlines, strengthening my adaptability and problem-solving skills. These rapid development challenges have served as a proving ground for testing new gameplay mechanics, tools, and techniques, expanding my skill set with each event.

Outside of development, I find inspiration and relaxation through Dungeons & Dragons (D&D) and Magic: The Gathering (MTG). Both of these games fuel my love for strategy, storytelling, and worldbuilding, while also providing a creative outlet during downtime.

Networking within the gaming industry has been essential to my growth, keeping me connected to emerging trends and reinforcing my dedication to game design and development. Actively pursuing internships has also helped me refine my portfolio, gain hands-on experience, and prepare to contribute meaningfully to the gaming community.

With a blend of professional experience, personal passion, and faith-driven purpose, I am ready to bring a unique, innovative perspective to the ever-evolving world of game development.
